Bacharach is a beautiful town on the banks of River Rhine in Germany. It is a part of the Rhine Valley which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.  Bacharach lies in the upper middle Rhine Valley. Water transport is still relevant and small speed boats and large trade vessels are used extensively. In the olden days Bacharach was an important trade centre thanks to the River Rhine through which all the trading was done. During those days tax had to be paid to the coastal towns to carry goods through Rhine. All the other towns on the banks of Rhine are stunning. You can see many small castles here with lush green pastures all around. Most of these castles are now turned into either hotels or hostels. There are few other buildings here. Trains do not have stops here. So, rail transport is of no use. Unless you own a vehicle or rent a private vehicle, it’s difficult to enjoy all the sights here. Every town centre has town-halls known as ‘Rathaus’. Bacharach is famous for its grape-wines and dilapidated buildings. Larch is another beautiful city that lies on the other side of the River Rhine.
