Paniyeli Poru just like its name, is a unique destination. It is an exotic spot where three waterfalls meet and seem to fight with their unruly waters bursting making it a spectacular sight. This seems to be the reason why it got the name Paniyeli Poru (poru means fight). This amazing spot lies just 42km from Ernakulam town. This place is a serene picturesque picnic spot for people who love adventure. The trekking in the forest which lasts for a 1½ kilometres is a beautiful experience. As you keep moving through the forest, you get the glimpses of River Periyar. The walk through the canopy of trees on the banks of this beautiful river is an unforgettable experience.  Some of the places here are restricted for visitors. The undercurrent is really strong during the rainy season. It is risky to move closer to the waterfalls due to the strata of rocks and mangroves present. Those who plan to visit with their families need to take extra care. The idea time to visit her is January. Rainy season makes it difficult to move around and you may miss out some of the beautiful scenes around. The banks of Periyar is an ideal family spot where you can sit and enjoy the clear waters watching the mesmerizing waterfalls far away. Ticket rate is Rs.25/person.
