Jabal Al Qarah is a small mountain that lies 225 metres above sea-level in Saudi Arabia. The rocks here are made up of sand stone and lime stone. The presence of lime-stone gives the whole mountain an off-white colour. The presence of water and wind has been transforming this region into an abode of caves. Jabal Al Qarah is also known as the ‘Land of Civilization. Unlike the other mountain caves in Saudi Arabia, the caves in Jabal Al Qarah have pathways and lights provided so as to get inside without any danger. The entrance fee is 50 Saudi Riyal but children below the age of 12 are exempted. These caves are known to be cool in summer and warm in winter. The caves here are long and tall. The complex structures here are breath-takingly beautiful. From the top of the mountain, one can the spectacular landscape down below with golden sand and green date palms. The best time to visit is in the evening. The sun-set as seen from the mountain top is stunning. Travellers from Damam, Al Khobar, Jubail and Riyadh can reach here easily. This is the best one-day tourist spot for those who love to explore caves.
