Kottakkunnu is an important tourist destination in Malappuram. Situated on top of a hill, one can get the panoramic view of the Malappuram town very well from here. One of the major attractions here is the ‘Sky- cycle’. Set on a height of 55 feet, riding this cycle on a single rope for a distance of 100m is an adventurous sport. After the accident that occurred recently changes have been made to the cycle. The tires have been replaced with rubber attached to the rim and a safety belt has been connected to the rope so that not just the cycle but also the rider remains safe.
Another attraction here is the Zip-line. The speed depends on the climber’s age and strength. This ride needs a lot of strength and adventurous spirit to travel a 100m distance on the zip-line. A 32 feet high glass bridge is also an attraction here. This is the bridge through which you return after the sky-cycle ride. Walking on this bridge is exciting as well as scary but one can enjoy the panoramic view of Malappuram. One has to be extra careful while climbing down the bridge built with logs and ropes. There is a beautiful football ground here filled with lush green grass. You can play either football or Zorb- ball here. If there are around 4 to 10 people, you can make two teams and play here. The entry fee is Rs.50. They can either play football or climb into an air-filled balloon (zorb ball) and spend 15minutes pushing each other. Although not an adventurous sport, one can spend some fun time with their friends doing this activity. Other than these, there are other activities like Sky Challenge, Paint Ball and Artificial Wall Climbing here.
