Amber Fort lies 11km away from Jaipur on the New Delhi route. This magnificent fort was built in the 16th century by Raja Man Singh. Next to the entrance, there is a pond. Visitors can be seen feeding the fish in the pond. You can buy the fish food from the women selling them at the fort. You can also feed the doves found here. Amber fort is situated on top of a hill. Elephant safari is available for those who wish to go on top of the hill. Similar to the ones found in Agra fort and Red For, there was a Diwan- e- Aam where the king used to meet his people and Diwan-e – Khaas, a place for the king to meet his ministers. We can see the Nahargarh Fort and Jaigarh Fort from the Amber Fort. Those who wish to visit the Nahargarh Fort may avail an autorickshaw which will cost around a 100 Rupees. There is a tunnel inside the Amber Fort that leads to the Jaigarh Fort which was built by Sawai Jai Singh. This tunnel is illuminated with bulbs for the visitors to travel through it. Once you have covered the tunnel, you have to climb a hill to reach the Jaigarh Fort which is also situated on a hill. The Amber Fort can be seen standing tall from here.
