Vilangankunnu (Vilangan Hills) is a famous tourist destination in Trissur. This hillock is situated next in the highway, next to Amala Hospital in Trissur-Kunnamkulam road. The visitors have to ride uphill for 4km to reach this amazing spot which lies at a height of 80-100m. You can also reach Vilangankunnu by KSRTC bus for a ticket rate of Rs.180 from the bus stand. There is a check post 1km before the spot from where each passenger must but a Rs.10 ticket and extra Rs.50 in case you wish to carry your camera with you. The journey from the check post then passes through a dense jungle path for almost 1km before the road ends at the Vilangankunnu hills. There is a pedestrian path that goes around the hill. There are also some tiny huts built on the path from where the tourists can enjoy the natural beauty of the region. The sight from this hill is stunning. The panoramic view of the Thrissur district from the topmost part of this hillock is simply superb. One can also enjoy the natural beauty of the nearby towns standing on the hill. There is an out-door theatre and a children’s park for the tourists and kids. The top of Vilangankunnu also provides a spectacular view of the Western Ghats, Perumala and Thayyur Kota in the Eastern side, and the Arabian Sea on the west. This is the best and the tallest hill in Trissur district to view the whole town. At Vilangankunnu, you can enjoy the breath-taking beauty of sunrise and sunset as seen from far away. The lush green land and the cool breeze has given Vilangan Hills the name ‘oxygen jar of Trissur’.
