Assam, the North-east state in India is popular for forest-related tourism. The rich forests with their intoxicating natural beauty presents an amazing experience for the tourists. An adventurous journey through the forest amidst wild animals attracts a lot of tourists to Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Spread over an area of 471 square kilometres of forest land, this amazing place is famous for the endangered species of the great one-horned rhino. Kaziranga National park has been declared a World Heritage Site of UNESCO. The park is also the home of tiger, elephants, bison, water buffaloes, capped and golden langur, the long-armed hoolock gibbon, Ganga dolphin, gaur, sambar and many other wild animals. The visitors to the park must reach the entrance gate before sunrise. There are four entrance gates to the park. Buy the ticket on the previous night. You can choose either jeep or elephant safari. Jeep safari is a little costlier. For those who wish to go on an elephant safari, the elephants would be kept ready for it. The sight of people riding elephants to move around the forest makes you realise how enjoyable it is.  At this park, the mother nature merges with the forest and lakes to give it a unique beauty. Riding on an elephant through the dense forest, under the wild creepers listening to the rustling music of bamboo trees enjoying the wild exotic beauty of the region is an amazing experience. This forest is the home to different species of birds like vultures, pigeons, migratory birds, Vulcans and also game-birds tamed for entertainment. Kaziranga park provides an amazing experience to know the unknown truths of wildlife for nature lovers.
Train service is available to Guwahati from Thiruvananthapuram via Trissur-Palghat route and also from Shoranur. Once you reach Guwahati, you can avail Assam state buses to all tourist destinations including Kaziranga National Park
