Al Qassim is situated at the heart of Saudi Arabia. This region is rich in wheat fields, date palms and other agricultural crops. Buraydah, the capital of Al Qassim has the world’s largest producer of dates. This beautiful land is located between Riyadh and Madinah, about 400 km away from the capital city of Riyadh. A stunning river with lush green banks, beautiful birds and emerald green skies makes the wadi (valley) a natural scenic beauty. There is an airport and a University in Al Qassim. All throughout the region, one can see buildings influenced by Arabian traditional and architectural styles. A journey from Riyadh to Al Qassim and then to Dammam covers approximately 1200km. On the way on both sides of the road one can see farms which grow dates, tomatoes, capsicum and many other vegetables. There are also farms that produce fodder for animals like goat, cow, camel and hen.  The sky-view of Al Qassim is spectacular with long date palms growing in rectangular gardens and grass fields in circular shapes. These circular fields have a rod connected to a long iron pipe. The spot where the pipe ends has another pipe going down to a wheel below. The length of the iron pipe decides how much of the farm can be watered. This pipe has holes at a given distance and water is allowed to flow through the pipe while the wheel goes around. Thus, the whole farm can be irrigated easily.
