Areekkal is a beautiful waterfall situated in the South Piramadom in Pambakuda panchayat, Ernakulam. The waterfalls is situated at a height of 70 feet and the water falling from the top bursting on the mountain rocks is a breath-taking sight. The falls is an awesome destination for a family picnic. There are steep rocky steps that allow the visitors to go near the waterfall. There are two paths one that go up towards the waterfall and the other where the visitors can climb down from the top to see this spectacular waterfall. The best view is present when you climb the path that goes up. As you climb each step, you can hear and see the water rushing towards you giving a feeling of excitement. The presence of green woods on both sides of the rock enhances the beauty of the spot. There is a path arranged below the rocky hill for the visitors to enjoy the sight of water rushing down from above. No one can go away from here without spending some time standing there watching and enjoying the intoxicating beauty of water falling down. Once you climb on top of the hill, you will be amazed to see that this awesome waterfall originates from small rivulets flowing calmly before it falls down with force from the steep top. Though not yet a popular destination for tourists, those who have visited here would love to come back to see the waterfall again.
