Pambadum Shola National Park lies 40km away from Munnar. Travelers from Munnar, first reach Mattupetti and then Chellapetti before you travel for another 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach Pambadum Shola. Nature lovers can stay in wood huts here. This exotic place has magnificent hills which stand 2000m to 3000m tall and picturesque forests around them. The days can be spent enjoying the lush greenery around you with cool breeze and dark paths which never see sunlight. The nights are even more fascinating with the sight of stars which seem to come twinkling down to the earth. Pambadum Shola is a treasure home of rare herbs. The forest region was declared a national park in 2003 considering its importance. A jeep ride through Munnar, Mattupetti, Chellapetti and another 75 minutes’ ride takes you to this beautiful place. The journey itself is an amazing experience. You can enjoy beautiful scenery with tea plantations and huge trees growing on both sides of the road. Once you reach Pambadum Shola, you can stay there and wake up listening to the beautiful voice of birds in the morning. The birds and the squirrels on your tree house, the screeching monkeys and the sight of wild buffaloes grazing far away can take your breath away. If you are lucky enough, you may also see herds of elephants and deer roaming around. Those who love trekking can avail the 3-hour trekking facility. The watchers from the forest department would accompany you. The trekking is going to be an amazing experience since walking under the clear blue sky enjoying the cool fresh breeze is never going to make you tired. Since there is a trench around the place, wild animals cannot reach here. For light, you can use candles or solar lamps in the tent. The trip is planned in such a way that you return here for lunch. Delicious dinner and breakfast are also provided here. This exotic place is a dream destination for nature lovers.
