Jaganmohan palace is situated close to the present Mysore Palace. It is one of the oldest palaces in Mysore. This palace was the residence of the royal family of Mysore when the old Mysore palace was burnt down. This magnificent palace is converted into an art gallery, named as Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery. It has a rich collection of art works and paintings by various known artists. There are 16 paintings by the famous Malayali artist Raja Ravi Verma displayed in this art gallery. This palace is a historian’s pleasure where one can see and study a rich collection of exquisite artefact’s and antique pieces of materials used by the Wodeyars centuries ago. There is an auditorium here which is used to host various cultural programs and conferences. It was also used to conduct Mysore University’s graduation ceremony during the earlier years. The visiting time for this marvellous palace is between 10 am and 5.30pm
