Langkawi, according to the local folklore is believed to have derived its name from the two words- Helang (eagle) and kawi (reddish brown). Burau Bay is a beautiful unknown beach in Lankawi., The cable car here is one of the steepest cable car ride in the world. The cable car begins its journey from the Oriental Village. This ride is organized into 3 stages. 1. The Base station 2. Idle Station 3. Top station. The middle station lies 650m above sea-level while the top station is at a height of 710m above sea-level. The cable car takes you through a sky journey above rain forest which is a part of Kilim Karst Geo forest park to the Machinchang hill covering a distance of 22km. Ticket price for an adult is 55 Malaysian Ringgit.
Once you reach you top station, you can either use the footpath known as the natural trail walk or take the sky-glide to reach the Langkawi bridge. This is a spectacular sky bridge built on top of Mount Machinchang joining two hills at a massive height of 2170 feet above sea-level. The sight from the bridge is stunning with beautiful scenery of the valley down below. The sky bridge has glass panels which allow the visitors to view the scenic beauty below. This 125m long sky bridge was built across the mount in the year 2004. One of the prominent fights in the Shahrukh Khan movie, ‘Don’ was picturised on this bridge. The visitors get a fascinating view of the lush green islands that lie far way. The Langkawi skybridge is indeed an impressive feat of engineering built on an exotic landscape.
