This place lies close to the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve buffer-zone where all kinds of wild animals live. Pakuthipalam is blessed with a large variety of wild animals and birds. This is also the only trafficable path to Parambikulam from Kaikati -Victoria via Thoothumpara Estate. This KFDC resort is surrounded by the Thoothumpara and Rosady estates where more than 2000 employees worked. But now it has been taken over by the government after the lease period. The buildings which were earlier used as church and school are now Bangalows for the tourists who visit here. The region has many spots where you can experience pin drop silence just like the Silent Valley. It is scary at times with its complete silence. Eve a small sound gets echoed as a result.
Day and night safari through the forest is available. Though the cost is high (Rs.2000), the delicious food and the unique ambience makes the Pakuthipalam safari an unforgettable experience for the visitor. The intoxicating beauty of this place attracts foreigners along with the nationals. Advance payment has to be made along with a permit from the Forest department to visit here. Remember Pakuthipalam is not a populated area and hence you will find wild animals even during daytime
