Though not a very big palace, this is a beautiful building situated in Bengaluru. Just like the Lal Bagh, its construction was started during the reign of Haider Ali and completed during Tipu Sultan’s rule. This palace was built entirely with teak and is believed to be used by Tipu to conduct his Darbar. The sultan used the palace as a summer retreat. This elegant palace also has a museum which exhibits paintings, engravings and other artefacts mostly related to Tipu Sultan.
The Bangalore fort lies close to the summer palace. It was originally built by Kempe Gowda who ruled the place in the 16th century. Kempe Gowda is known as the founder father of Bangalore. Later this fort was extended and strengthened by Wodeyar kings, Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan. This fort stood strong against the British empire those days. But now most of the parts are in ruins. The only part worth that still remain intact is the Entrance gate which is known as the Delhi Gate.
